Melvin Tanaya and Lyna Ty are the two young Australian designers behind the label Song For The Mute, a brand that received both national and international recognition. In March this year, the brand became the first ever menswear fashion label to win Australia’s most prestigious award of its kind, the 2011 L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival Designer Award, presented by Woolmark and Vogue. This was followed shortly after by the inaugural Singapore Men’s Fashion Week where the designers were given the honour of closing the five-day event as well as being presented with the 2011 ‘Young Designer of the Year’ award.
Following these successes for the brand, Harrolds, Australia’s’ Luxury Department Store for Men has further rewarded Song for the Mute by providing the label the opportunity to set up a temporary space within Harrolds store at Westfield Sydney and an in store installation at Harrolds Melbourne location at the iconic 101 Collins Street building.
